Brussels, May 24th, 2024
On Thursday, 23rd of May, the Europe-Asia Center, had the pleasure of welcoming a high-level delegation from China's Shaanxi Province, including representatives from Shaanxi's Commerce Department, the Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, and various industries.
In an engaging dialogue, the two sides discussed strategies for enhancing EU-China physical connectivity, promoting tourism, and strengthening EU-China relations more broadly.
Participants were particularly interested in the insightful analysis of contemporary EU-China relations from H.E. Ambassador Jean de Ruyt, Co-Chair of the Europe-Asia Center, as well as the eloquent calls for greater EU-China air and rail connectivity from Mr. Zhang Yingchun, Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce.
Mr. Jonathan Schwestka, Project Coordinator at the Europe-Asia Center, expressed great satisfaction with the results of the meeting, stating: "Being able to provide the platform for discussions on critical issues, such as EU-Asia physical connectivity, and reuniting partners from Europe and China, as well as the public and private sectors, is not only an honour and a pleasure but also essential in times where geopolitics often trump collaboration."
